Bacterial, viral & fungal infections may all occur on the foot.
Bacterial infections are most commonly seen as a complication of corns, ingrowing toenails etc.
Viral infections most commonly present as verrucae. These can be very painful and respond best to treatment in the young.
Fungal infections include athlete’s foot etc. Though not a major concern, athlete's foot can spread to the nails and cause lasting damage.
